Trayvon Shuff became a member of the Boys & Girls Club of New Britain when he was six years old. Twelve years later, Tray still comes to the Club everyday as a mentor and part-time staff member assisting in the programs he participated in such as Biddy Basketball, RBI Baseball, Flag Football and SMART Moves. More recently, Tray helps out in the Power Hour Homework Club, tutoring our younger members. His sense of humor is appreciated by everyone here at our Club. We are proud of Tray for being focused on his high school career at New Britain High School. In his first year of high school, he tutored other students in all subjects and had perfect attendance his freshman and sophomore years. During this, his senior year, Tray has taken AP (Advanced Placement) courses in Math and English. Tray will attend the University of Hartford in the fall and will major in accounting.
The Boys & Girls Club of New Britain has played a leadership role in our community since 1891--strengthening our families, our neighborhoods, and our city, in good times and bad, by changing lives and caring for young people, one child at a time. Our doors are open 1,967 hours each year for any kid to drop in, including weekends, with current membership covering 330 streets across New Britain.
The Biddy Basketball Program sponsored by the Ryan T. Lee Memorial Foundation will begin on Saturday, December, 7, 2013 and run through Saturday, February 8, 2014.
